Turkiye’s Crude Steel Production Drops to 3.1 Million Tons in March

Turkiye’s crude steel production declined [1] by 2.8 percent in March compared to the same month last year, falling to 3.1 million tons, according to data from the World Steel Association (worldsteel). During the first four months of 2025, output dropped 3.4 percent year-on-year to 9.3 million tons, ranking Türkiye as the seventh largest steel producer globally.

World crude steel production across 69 reporting countries reached 166.1 million tons in March, marking a 2.9 percent increase compared to the previous year. China’s crude steel output rose by 4.6 percent to 92.8 million tons, while India recorded a 7 percent rise, producing 13.8 million tons.

Japan’s production stood at 7.2 million tons, posting a slight 0.2 percent increase, while U.S. crude steel output declined by 1.5 percent to 6.7 million tons. Russia was estimated to have produced 6.2 million tons, reflecting a 3.2 percent drop.

Global crude steel output for the first quarter of 2025 totaled 486.6 million tons, registering a 0.4 percent decline compared to the same period last year.
