Shahi Steel, the Bosnian unit of Turkish steel structures manufacturer Sahi Celik, has officially opened a new production plant in the city of Gradacac, according to the chamber of economy of Tuzla Canton (KPKT). The investment is expected to strengthen Bosnia’s industrial sector and attract further foreign investment.
Shahi Steel specializes in the production of industrial steel constructions, housing containers, and prefabricated houses, KPKT confirmed in a press release. The chamber listed several factors behind the selection of Gradacac for the plant, citing the city’s strategic geographical location, developed infrastructure, extensive industrial zones, skilled workforce, long-standing industrial tradition, and availability of natural resources.
Gradacac Mayor Hajrudin Mehanovic welcomed the investment, emphasizing that the presence of Shahi Steel could pave the way for additional business expansion from Turkey. The move aligns with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s broader efforts to attract foreign investors and strengthen its manufacturing base.
Gradacac is located within Tuzla Canton, one of ten cantons that form the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which, alongside the Serb Republic, constitutes the country’s two autonomous entities.
Shahi Steel’s parent company, Sahi Celik, has been a key player in the steel industry, focusing on construction and industrial structures since its founding in 2016. The expansion into Bosnia marks a significant milestone in the company’s international growth strategy.
