Tinder is helping singles turn the page on past relationships with its innovative “ExCycle” program. The initiative encourages users to transform clothing from former partners into fresh, stylish outfits, offering a sustainable and emotionally cathartic way to deal with post-breakup baggage.
In collaboration with designer Sami Miró, Tinder’s ExCycle debuted in New York City, where participants gathered to revitalize their old clothes. The program was inspired by the statistic that two-thirds of Americans keep items from ex-partners.
Miró worked directly with participants, interviewing them to understand their style preferences and help them create pieces that reflected their current or desired identity. The program culminated in a public event at Tumbao in New York, offering styling advice and customization sessions.
Participants reflected on past relationships while transforming their clothing, turning old memories into confidence for the future. By upcycling outfits, the ExCycle program empowers singles to take control of their narrative, potentially leading to new beginnings and fresh perspectives.
