Tesco’s Former CEO Looks Upon  Transferring Green Energy to UK from Morocco

The North African nation is making investments so as to demonstrate itself as a superior in the renewable energy sector with a target of 52% of its total energy attained from renewable sources by 2030.

Former Tesco boss, Dave Lewis stated that he has thoughts in granting energy to Great Britain from Morocco.

According to the Guardian, with the capacity to power 9 million homes by 2030, this project will transport wind and solar energy from Morocco’s Tan-Tan area thereby coating 8% of Britain’s electricity needs.

The project includes constructing the 4,000 kilometer world’s longest subsea power line, which would be buried deep beneath the seabed between the two nations.

As per the Guardian reports, up to 8% of the electric power manufactured in Great Britain from renewable sources could be carried by the cable  and can travel from Tan-Tan to Devon in less than a second.

Xlinks’ executive chairman–Lewis has facilitated discussions with investors and energy secretaries thereby putting forth efforts to accomplish the project within the next 6 years.

The project illustrates the advancing role of Morocco in global renewable energy and UK striving for energy security and sustainability.

Morocco is functioning to place itself as a dominant nation with regards to green energy, establishing renewable energy projects including solar and wind ventures.

According to a recent Bloomberg report, within 2027, Morocco aspires to double the present green power capacity from 1.3 gigawatts to 2.7 gigawatts in the region.

By 2023, Morocco strives to derive 52 percentage of its total energy from renewable sources. As per the report of Global Energy Monitor, this goal has been considered “credible”, based on the efforts crafted by the nation in this sector.

The Noor Ouarzazate complex is the crown jewel of Morocco’s solar-related projects, thereby promoting the nation in demonstrating remarkable innovation. The enterprise is Morocco’s biggest renewable project and serves as an example of the renewable energy capacity across the nation.

So as to meet the rising demand for electric power throughout the nation, Morocco is focusing on advancing its renewable energy in its southern provinces.
