Tenova and Coolbrook partners for carbon-free steel production

Tenova, an Italian firm under the Techint Group and a provider of advanced solutions for the metals and mining industries, has recently announced a strategic partnership with Finland’s Coolbrook, a leader in transformational engineering and technology.

Together, they aim to develop integrated solutions combining their respective technologies to enable carbon-free production of iron, steel, and other metals.

Coolbrook’s RDH™ Technology is expected to reduce carbon emissions by over 2.4 billion metric tons annually. The brand aims to establish the RDH™ technology as an industry standard by 2030.

The initial focus of the partnership is to develop Coolbrook’s proprietary RotoDynamic Heater™ (RDH) technology, enabling the replacement of fossil fuel combustion with clean electricity in high-temperature heating processes within the iron, steel, and broader metals industries.

After the successful implementation, Tenova and Coolbrook intend to extend their collaboration to additional applications across the metals sector.
