Mumbai: The passing of Ratan Tata at the age of 86 was reported on Wednesday October 9, 2024. He had been undergoing intensive care in a Mumbai hospital, reported Reuters earlier on Wednesday.

Among his many awards, he received the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian honour, in 2008 for his exceptional and distinguished service in trade and industry as he was a man known for his wise words and contributions to the country.

Tata Group stocks, such as Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS), Tata Power Ltd, and Tata Steel Ltd, Tata Tele-services traded in the green since the news of his passing away was published.

Benchmark equity indices, which are key stock market indexes that represent the overall market trend, rose on thursday in early trading, indicating a positive market sentiment, amid a firm trend in global equities and buying in banking stocks.

About two-thirds of share capital of Tata Sons, the group’s holding company, is held by philanthropic trusts.
