Regenerative Cotton Alliance

CottonConnect and the Cotton Egypt Association (CEA) have announced a long-term partnership to expand regenerative cotton initiatives across Egypt. The collaboration aims to provide cotton producers with the knowledge and tools to adopt regenerative farming practices, promoting sustainable agriculture. CEA, a non-profit organisation, is committed to protecting and enhancing the value of the Egyptian Cotton™ brand.
Through this partnership, CottonConnect will extend its REEL Cotton Program, which has already reduced water and chemical use by 15-30%, boosted yields by 15%, and increased profits for local farmers by approximately 30%. The United Nations projects that Egypt will face water scarcity by 2025, making this initiative a timely and proactive response to the country’s climate challenges.
The agreement, formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MOU), underscores the commitment of both organisations to regenerative cotton farming and supports the REEL Regenerative Programme. Together, they aim to create more resilient cotton supply chains while improving farmers’ livelihoods in the face of climate change.
Alison Ward, CEO of CottonConnect, said: “We are thrilled to partner with the Cotton Egypt Association to further our shared goal of promoting environmentally friendly cotton production. Together, we can drive greater impact and help Egyptian cotton farmers embrace regenerative farming techniques that enhance yields and safeguard precious natural resources.”
Khaled Schuman, CEO of CEA, added: “Our partnership with CottonConnect is a significant step forward. We are eager to leverage our combined expertise and networks to support farmers, foster positive change, and ensure the long-term sustainability of the textile industry.”
