Recover, a leading materials science company and global producer of low-impact, high-quality recycled cotton fiber and cotton fiber blends opens a new recycling facility in Vietnam to boost sustainable textile production as part of its expansion strategy.
The new facility, which is expected to be fully operational by early 2025, would allow Recover to introduce its extensive recycling technology to Vietnam and take advantage of the local textile production market’s increased output of sustainable materials.
Recover selected its new facility in Dong Nai Province. Recover chose this area specifically because, if operational, the factory will be close to both manufacturing and textile waste sorting facilities, reducing costs and the environmental effect of transportation.
Our expansion into Vietnam is a crucial step in our strategic business plan,” said Anders Sjöblom, CEO at Recover, in a statement. “Circularity is currently an underutilized tool for the Vietnamese textiles industry, and by bringing our advanced technology to a key textile hub, we are not only enhancing how we serve our customers by expanding our global manufacturing footprint but also creating a positive shift towards circularity in Vietnam.”
The factory, which spans roughly 14,000m2, will use Recover’s highly optimized recycling technology and will begin operations with two cutting-edge recycling lines, offering an annual production capacity of 10,000 MT. The facility will have a dedicated Recover™ laboratory to ensure high-quality products and continuous process innovation.
The new facility’s primary output will be RMix, which is Recover’s recycling method for mixtures of cotton and polyester. This innovative method eliminates the need to separate these fibers before recycling, simplifying the polycotton recycling process while offering a major environmental advantage by maximizing energy efficiency. Recover, which is based in Spain, made a significant advancement in 2022 when it opened a second manufacturing plant in Bangladesh. Another significant step in the company’s continuous growth plan, is the opening of its newest location in Vietnam which aims to reach new international markets in order to meet the growing demand for recycled materials from retailers and brands worldwide.
