German sportswear giant Puma has unveiled its new podcast series[1], “Green Flags,” to engage environmentally conscious Gen Z listeners. The five-part series reimagines sustainability education through a competitive narrative, turning climate action into an entertaining challenge. Conversations cover a range of topics, from carbon footprint analysis to textile circularity.
Hosted by Manchester United captain Maya Le Tissier, fashion influencer Oli Bromfield, and content creator Moses Duckrell, the podcast tests two footballers and a fashionista on sustainability challenges. They tackle challenges such as upcycling and generating electricity from potatoes to see who earns the most green flags. Each episode delves into complex environmental issues through accessible and playful experiments.
“The climate crisis can seem overwhelming,” notes Anne-Laure Descours, Puma’s Chief Sourcing Officer. “But individual choices matter profoundly.” The podcast highlights include exploring the environmental impact of breakfast, demonstrating wardrobe restoration techniques, examining material sustainability, experimenting with renewable electricity generation, and showcasing upcycling innovations.
Strategically timed with Puma’s Vision 2030 sustainability targets, “Green Flags” translates corporate environmental commitments into digestible, youth-oriented content. The series is part of Puma’s broader commitment to increasing transparency and engaging the next generation in sustainability. The brand recently announced its Vision 2030 targets in Human Rights, Circularity, and Climate, outlining how it will continue to reduce its impact.
Puma aims to transform passive awareness into active engagement, a nuanced approach to corporate social responsibility that resonates with fashion’s emerging conscious consumer demographic. “Green Flags” is designed to inspire and educate listeners on how everyday choices impact climate change, spreading the message that small changes can make a significant difference in reducing our environmental footprint.
“I’m so excited to be a part of this podcast which brings sustainability to the forefront of Gen Z listeners. It’s a lot of fun to complete the sustainability challenges and learn more about the small changes we can all make to fight climate change,” said Maya Le Tissier. Anne-Laure Descours added, “The climate crisis can seem overwhelming, however, all of us have the power to make better decisions for the future of our planet, no matter how small. It’s vital that we travel this journey towards a FOREVER. BETTER. together with our next generation to create awareness and inspire collective change.”
“Green Flags” is a podcast, brought to life by Puma and produced by Mags Creative and MSL.
