Prada Group Names Miu Miu CEO

The Prada Group has appointed Silvia Onofri as the CEO of Miu Miu, effective 26 February 2025.

Onofri holds a master’s degree in economics from La Sapienza University in Rome and has pursued further studies at the London School of Economics and the University of Greenwich. She brings extensive experience in the luxury sector, boasting a strong track record in leadership and brand transformation.

Onofri began her career at Bulgari, the jewellery maison under Bernard Arnault’s LVMH luxury conglomerate, before joining the Swiss luxury brand Bally in 2008. She rose to CEO for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in 2018, additionally overseeing global wholesale operations. In 2023, she was appointed Brand President of VF Corporation’s Napapijri, leading its strategic repositioning.

Onofri takes on leadership as Miu Miu experiences unprecedented growth. The brand’s net revenue soared by 105% in Q3 2024, now comprising 25% of Prada Group’s total revenue. It remains the top-ranked brand on the Lyst Index, with revenue reaching €854 million in the first nine months of 2024—a 97% increase. Her key challenge will be to maintain this momentum while safeguarding brand desirability and talent retention.

Onofri’s appointment reflects broader leadership shifts in the luxury fashion industry. In September, LVMH’s Christian Dior Couture appointed Benedetta Petruzzo as Managing Director following her tenure at Miu Miu.

As Miu Miu cements its position as a dominant force in luxury fashion, Onofri’s leadership will be pivotal in driving continued growth, innovation, and global influence.

Miu Miu and Sustainability
Miu Miu, a subsidiary of the Prada Group, upholds a sustainability strategy centred on three core pillars: Planet, People, and Culture—emphasising environmental responsibility, social equity, and cultural engagement. A flagship initiative, Upcycled by Miu Miu, launched in 2020, transforms vintage garments into exclusive, limited-edition pieces. In Autumn/Winter 2022, the brand introduced 50 upcycled leather jackets, sourced from vintage markets and meticulously reworked by hand. In 2024, the programme expanded to include upcycled denim, repurposing pre-2000 jeans into contemporary fashion pieces.

Despite these initiatives, Miu Miu’s sustainability performance has garnered mixed reviews. The ethical fashion rating platform Good On You has rated the brand “Not Good Enough,” citing a lack of transparency, deficiencies in material sourcing, and the absence of a clear animal welfare policy.
