Meta and Zelestra Expand U.S. Solar Portfolio with New Renewable Energy Deals

In a significant move towards sustainable energy, Meta and Zelestra have announced the signing of four new Environmental Attribute Purchase Agreements (EAPAs) [1] in Texas. These agreements, totaling 595 MWac, will enable the construction of four solar projects with a combined capacity of 720 MWdc. The projects are set to be located in Hopkins, Lamar, Lampasas, and Henderson Counties, and will deliver electricity into the ERCOT grid, supporting Meta’s data center operations with 100% renewable energy.

This collaboration marks a major milestone in the ongoing partnership between Meta and Zelestra. Since April 2024, the two companies have now closed six EAPAs, totaling 800 MWac, including agreements for 210 MWac from two solar plants in Indiana. The new projects will significantly increase Meta’s renewable energy investments and align with its goal to match its electricity usage with clean energy.

Urvi Parekh, Head of Global Energy at Meta, expressed excitement about the new projects, stating, “The renewable energy from these projects will support our data center operations, as well as our ongoing efforts to match our electricity usage with 100% clean and renewable energy”. Phillip North, CEO of Zelestra US, added, “We are pleased to triple the size of our partnership with Meta, demonstrating that we share the same commitment to accelerate decarbonization”.

Zelestra, a global renewable energy company, continues to expand its presence across the United States, with nearly 6.6 GWdc of renewable projects under development in several states2. The company specializes in developing, commercializing, constructing, and operating large-scale renewable energy projects, with a portfolio of 28 GW of carbon-free projects across 13 countries.

The new agreements between Meta and Zelestra highlight the growing trend of corporate investments in renewable energy and the commitment to sustainability. As both companies continue to invest in clean energy initiatives, this partnership sets a strong example for the industry and underscores the importance of environmental stewardship.
