Malaysia secures anti-dumping duties on iron and steel from four nations

According to a statement by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia has implemented provisional anti-dumping duties on flat-rolled iron products and non-alloy steel imports from China, India, Japan, and South Korea.

Effective January 11, the duties will apply for up to 120 days on products with a width exceeding 600 mm (24 inches). The imposed rates range between 2.52% and 36.80%.

A final call on the provisional anti-dumping duties will be made by May 10. Stakeholders have until January 20 to submit feedback regarding the preliminary determination.

The decision followed an investigation which began in August into the products from China, India, Japan and South Korea that started after a petition from a domestic producer.

The ministry said the petitioner had alleged the imports were being sold well below the domestic price in the four countries causing material injury to the domestic industry in Malaysia.
