Fenix Resources has awarded MACA the mining contract for Beebyn-W11, its new iron ore mine in Western Australia’s Mid-West region. The contract covers drill and blast, ore extraction, and crushing and screening operations, with on-site mobilization scheduled to begin in the June quarter, marking a key step in the development of Fenix’s Beebyn- W11 project, reinforcing their status.
As per the reports, Beebyn-W11 requires the construction of a 20km private haul road that connects the new mine to Fenix’s existing Iron Ridge operations and the public road system, while expecting the construction of the Haul road to begin this month.
Fenix’s third operating mine in the Mid-West region, Beebyn-W11 is set to produce 1.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of iron ore from the September quarter, significantly contributing to Fenix’s 2025 production target of 4Mtpa. The project benefits from a robust JORC-compliant resource, with measured and indicated reserves totaling 20.5 million tonnes grading 61.3% iron – positioning it as a high-quality addition to Fenix’s growing portfolio.
They also landed an exclusive right to mine and export up to 10 million dry metric tonnes of iron ore from W11 in October 2023 as part of an agreement with Sinosteel. Fenix has met all cultural and environmental requirements for the Beebyn-W11 mine, including an agreement with local Indigenous leaders, Wajarri Yamaji, and obtaining all required permits.
Fenix Resources has achieved a milestone, transporting six million dry metric tonnes of iron ore from its Western Australian mining operations.
The company’s flagship Iron Ridge mine, operational since December 2020, has maintained steady production of high-grade iron ore at an annual rate of 1.3 million tonnes.
