Nike has announced a collaboration with British make-up artist Isamaya Ffrench that combines “style and beauty”. Ffrench designed two exclusive colorways for Nike’s latest Air Max Dn, in beige and chocolate brown, drawing inspiration from female athletes whose influence extends beyond the field of play into the fashion world. The British make-up artist went on to say that she considered producing a strong yet basic multi-textural sneaker to serve as a “dynamic, graphic canvas for athletes to own their personal style and beauty”.
Ffrench has a reputation for changing the definition of beauty and power as well as how they interact. She is genuine and inspirational. Her emergence as a leading expert on color and texture is fueled by her imaginative design and cosmetics, which appeal directly to women who create the trend and then encourage others to follow suit. Her distinct sense of elegance and beauty is matched by the Air Max Dn, a sneaker with an unmatched appearance and feel that embodies Nike’s dedication to performance and design innovation for athletes.
For me, the most inspiring thing about the Dn silhouette is how much opportunity it presents to play with texture, color and materials,” Ffrench says. “My favorite parts of the design are probably the rand and heel, where we were able to add metallic tones underneath a glossy acrylic, giving those parts of the shoe an even more extreme and textural look — juxtaposing them against the matte of the upper and sole.”
Ffrench took inspiration for her Air Max Dn tints from female athletes whose impact transcends the fashion industry and the playing field. The collection will be available globally at nike.com and select retail partners beginning December 20.
