H&M and Central Saint Matins have partnered once more for the Sustainable Fashion and Journalism prize, which will give four awards to students studying journalism and fashion design.
In order to “encourage the next generation of fashion leaders to further engage with sustainability and accelerate the shift to circular fashion,” the award seeks to assist up-and-coming designers and journalists. Since its inception in 2021, H&M has stated that it will continue to fund the award for the subsequent two years.
Each of the four winners—three from the BA Fashion Design program at Central Saint Martins and one from the BA Fashion Communication: Journalism program—will receive £16,000 to utilize in their final graduate projects and collections. The H&M head office team will also provide extra assistance in the form of networking opportunities and mentorship.
The candidates will be evaluated based on how well they fit Central Saint Martins’ own policies, H&M’s values, and the company’s ongoing inclusion and diversity initiatives.
The selection process will be rigorous, with candidates evaluated based on how well their projects align with Central Saint Martins’ policies, H&M’s values, and the company’s broader commitments to diversity, inclusion, and sustainable fashion. A distinguished panel, comprising senior leaders from H&M’s Design Team and Central Saint Martins course leaders, will assess the submissions, ensuring that the winners embody the principles of responsible and progressive fashion.
The winners will be officially announced in April 2025, marking another milestone in H&M’s ongoing efforts to shape a more sustainable fashion landscape. Through this partnership, H&M and Central Saint Martins reaffirm their dedication to empowering young creatives and driving meaningful change in the industry.
