GFA Launches Podcast to Help Fashion Brands Meet Circularity Goals

The Global Fashion Agenda has launched a new podcast series ‘Upstream Circularity podcast’ that explores the technological and institutional obstacles hindering the widespread implementation of textile recycling in the fashion sector, coinciding with increasing regulatory pressure in global markets. In three parts, the Upstream Circularity Podcast explores how the industry might turn textile waste into a profitable source of resources, a transformation that has so far proven difficult to achieve despite existing technologies. The podcast was produced in conjunction with the International Day of Zero Waste.

Faith Robinson, head of content at GFA, hosts the show, which expands on the organization’s Upstream Circularity Playbook, which was created with assistance from the H&M Foundation and GIZ. A significant obstacle to expanding textile recycling is systematically addressed in each episode: Marina Chahboune of Closed Loop Fashion and Nin Castle of Reverse Resources contributed to the first exhibit, which looks at waste segregation and traceability solutions. Future episodes will concentrate on collecting infrastructure and product design issues, with industry professionals such as Karla Magruder and Alexander Granberg.

The debut of the podcast series occurs as fashion companies encounter increasing pressure to exhibit substantial advancements in circularity pledges, with both investors and regulators demanding proof of systemic transformation rather than mere incremental enhancements. Fashion professionals will receive practical ideas for establishing circular models that can survive both commercial pressures and regulatory scrutiny from the weekly episodes that will be made available on GFA’s website and major streaming platforms.
