Ganni, a Danish fashion brand, has signed a procurement deal with Ambercycle for a continuous supply of cycora, a regenerated polyester product, as part of its commitment to sustainability.
Incorporating cycora into its product lines, Ganni intends to use Ambercycle’s sustainable alternative to replace over 20% of its annual use of new and recycled polyester made from bottles. The two businesses started working together in 2021, and since then, Ganni’s collections have incorporated cycora.
“Securing this agreement is critical for us as we firmly believe that next-generation alternatives like fiber-to-fiber recycling represent the future of materials used in the fashion industry,” said Ganni founder Nicolaj Reffstrup. “There is a real risk that without proactive action, we could face challenges in accessing these innovations as demand increases globally. This offtake ensures that we can remain at the forefront of next-gen material adoption while staying true to our commitment to a more circular future.”
Cycora is a circular substitute for traditional polyester. It provides a sustainable alternative that preserves the quality and longevity needed for high-performance products while reducing the need for new resource extraction and diverting trash from landfills. In November 2023, a jersey with 30% cycora was released, marking the beginning of Ganni’s adventure with the brand. A later version that used 70% cycora showed off the material’s performance and adaptability. The foundation for the material’s wider adoption was laid by these early products, which demonstrated the material’s versatility and functional capability as well as its quality and suitability for use with current supply chains.
Ambercycle co-founder and CEO Shay Sethi said: “Collaboration is the cornerstone of building a circular future. Working with forward-thinking brands like Ganni allows us to take collective, incremental steps toward transforming the fashion system. This partnership is an example of how shared commitment and action can cultivate sustainability achievements.”
