On May 19, 2026, Ford Energy — the wholly-owned battery-storage subsidiary of Ford Motor Company — and EDF Power Solutions North America announced a five-year battery energy storage system supply agreement.
The deal follows Ford Energy’s launch earlier in May 2026 of a new containerized BESS product, repurposing EV-battery manufacturing capacity for stationary storage as U.S. EV demand softens. Ford joins LG Energy Solution, AESC, SK Battery America and Samsung SDI in pivoting EV lines to ESS.
Why it matters for Green Renewable Energy: Ford’s pivot from EV batteries to stationary storage redeploys domestic battery factories to support near-term U.S. renewable-storage deployment.
