EURATEX and AMITH Sign MoU to Strengthen Partnership in the Textiles Industry

EURATEX (the European Apparel and Textile Confederation) and AMITH (Association Marocaine des Industries du Textile et de l’Habillement) have formalized a partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding [1] (MoU) during the Maroc in Mode 2024 event in Casablanca, Morocco. This agreement aims to deepen collaboration and promote mutual growth within the textiles industry between Europe and Morocco.

The MoU focuses on aligning industry practices with European standards for sustainability and circularity, addressing regulatory challenges, and improving the investment climate between the two regions.

The partnership supports a cohesive approach to trade under the Pan Euro Med Convention, which will be updated on January 1, 2025, to foster greater competitiveness and sustainability in the global textile market.

Mario Jorge Machado, President of EURATEX, emphasized the potential of the EU-Morocco textile connection, aiming to strengthen both regions’ textile sectors by embracing sustainability and competitiveness. El Ansari Anass, President of AMITH, highlighted the importance of this MoU in driving the continuous development of the Moroccan textile industry.

This agreement marks a significant commitment to a sustainable and cooperative future for the European and Moroccan textile industries, paving the way for new opportunities under the revised PEM Convention framework.
