EU has announced their temporary anti-dumping duties ranging between 6.9% and 33% on hot rolled steel coil (HRC) imports from Japan, Vietnam, and Egypt, until a final decision is made by October.
Previous reports also show that the imports of aluminium road wheels from Morocco were found to be unfairly subsidised, including those via China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which were harming the EU industry. A Commission anti-subsidy investigation found that the Moroccan government was systematically supporting its automotive sector through WTO-incompatible subsidies, such as grants and loans at preferential rates, and tax exemptions or reductions.
A delegation from the Ministry of Investment is set to hold talks with European Union (EU) representatives regarding the European Commission’s recent decision to apply a provisional 15.6% anti-dumping duty on Egyptian steel exports, according to Tarek El-Gioushy, a member of the Chamber of Metallurgical Industries, speaking to Ashraq Business.
Reports say that the decision is effective as of April 7th.
Meanwhile, Ezz Steel intends to file an objection against the European Commission’s methodology for calculating the provisional anti-dumping duties on its products. The commission has provided concerned parties with a three-week period to contest its findings.
