Electra, headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, has signed a memorandum of understanding with German steel and raw materials trader Interfer Edelstahl Group to partner on clean iron production for specialty steel.

Electra is a producer of low-carbon iron and is transforming the environmental footprint of the iron and steel industry by utilizing chemistry and renewable energy to produce 99% pure iron.

With access to a reliable supply of high-purity, clean iron from Electra, Interfer expects to support customers to reach their decarbonization goals.

Sandeep Nijhawan, Electra CEO and Co-Founder said in an official statement, “As Electra continues to scale our clean iron production, partnerships with industry leaders like Interfer are essential.”

“Our modular system is designed for rapid deployment to meet the demand of partners and manufacturers looking to incorporate high-purity iron into their operations,” he added.

Electra announced that Interfer is prioritizing the development of green steel and raw material sources across Europe. Simultaneously, Electra highlighted its low-carbon iron production process, which uses renewable energy and advanced chemistry to produce 99% pure iron, significantly reducing the environmental impact of the iron and steel industry.

Electra and Interfer share the same commitment to cutting emissions in iron and steelmaking. Together, they aim to address these challenges by showcasing scalable and sustainable solutions for low-carbon iron production, catering to the increasing demand for green steel.
