Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) celebrated two events [1] on January 26, 2025, to mark the International Day of Clean Energy on the 26th of January at DEWA’s Sustainability and Innovation Centre, located within the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
The two events were organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
The first event, ‘Renewables Talk’, served as a platform for industry experts, stakeholders, and enthusiasts to discuss experiences, opportunities, and best practices in the renewable energy sector. This event highlighted the potential and importance of renewable energy in driving global climate action.
The second event, ‘Women in Diplomacy’, focused on celebrating and acknowledging women’s crucial role in the renewable energy sector. It aimed to foster partnerships and support women’s leadership to accelerate the global transition to sustainable energy.
Notable figures including HE Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment; Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA; and Francesco La Camera, Director-General of IRENA, delivered opening speeches at the events. They emphasized the significance of a sustainable, safe, inclusive, and equitable energy transition to achieve net zero.
HE Al Dahak said “Today, as we mark International Day of Clean Energy, we must not only celebrate the progress and opportunities of clean energy but also renew our collective commitment to act urgently to accelerate the global energy transition, ensuring no one is left behind as we deliver a future where clean energy powers progress, drives equity, and safeguards our planet for generations to come,”
These initiatives reflect the UAE’s commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050 and demonstrate their active role in promoting global clean energy solutions.
