Better Cotton Joins Policy Hub Coalition for EU Policy Engagement

In a significant move towards influencing European Union sustainability policies, Better Cotton, the world’s largest cotton sustainability program, has become the latest member of the Policy Hub coalition. This alliance, formed in 2019, brings together various stakeholders to collaboratively shape and harmonize crucial EU regulations impacting the textile sector.

By joining the Policy Hub, Better Cotton gains a direct platform to contribute its extensive knowledge and practical insights derived from working with cotton farmers globally. The organization intends to underscore the vital role of credible sustainability standards in fostering both environmental responsibility and circular economy principles within the textile industry.

The Policy Hub coalition actively engages in discussions surrounding key EU policy initiatives, including the upcoming Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, the EU Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles, and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive. Better Cotton’s participation will ensure that the realities of cotton cultivation and the perspectives of the wider textile supply chain are effectively considered during these crucial policy-making processes. This partnership signifies Better Cotton’s commitment to proactive engagement in shaping a more sustainable future for the textile industry within the European framework.
