Berry Global Group, Inc. has announced that it has surpassed its 2025 emissions reduction goal two years earlier than planned, as highlighted in its 2024 Sustainability Report. The report underscores the company’s continued progress in its “Impact 2025” strategy, aimed at advancing a circular, net-zero economy.
Key achievements include a 28.3% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions from the 2019 baseline, exceeding its original 25% reduction target by 2023. Berry also made strides in product sustainability, raising post-consumer resin usage by 43% and boosting bioplastic purchases by 130%. Notably, the company redesigned Heinz ketchup closures to use mono-material polypropylene, enhancing recyclability.
The company invested in recycling infrastructure, including a major facility in the UK designed to recycle up to 40% of polypropylene waste. Berry’s commitment has earned it top sustainability ratings, including MSCI AA and EcoVadis Gold awards. CEO Kevin Kwilinski emphasized that sustainability is not just a business strategy, but a moral imperative driving innovation.
