PGE and Ørsted Award Additional Steel Structure Contract for Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Project

PGE and Ørsted have signed another contract [1] for the production and supply of secondary steel structures for the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm. The agreement, awarded to Grupa Przemysłowa Baltic, marks a significant step in Poland’s offshore wind energy development.

Under the contract, Grupa Przemysłowa Baltic will manufacture boat landings and anode cages at its facility in Gdansk. These components play a crucial role in protecting the wind farm’s foundations from corrosion and mechanical damage. The latest agreement finalizes the secondary steel supply for the Baltica 2 project, reinforcing Poland’s commitment to strengthening its domestic offshore wind supply chain.

Bartosz Fedurek, CEO of PGE Baltica, emphasized the importance of involving Polish companies in offshore wind projects, stating that the use of local expertise and facilities contributes to the country’s industrial growth. Ørsted’s Vice President and Managing Director of the Baltica 2 project, Ulrik Lange, highlighted the competitiveness of Poland’s supply chain, noting that domestic firms are increasingly demonstrating their ability to meet offshore industry standards.

Adam Kowalski, CEO of Baltic Industrial Group, expressed pride in the company’s role in the project, underscoring its commitment to producing high-quality steel structures that enhance the durability and safety of offshore wind farms.

The Baltica 2 project has now entered its offshore construction phase, with seabed preparation for foundation and subsea cable installation set to begin soon.
